Matthew Sezer, a 16-year old Oak Park-River Forest High School student, has created a powerful documentary that chronicles the peace and impeachment movements from President George W. Bush’s last non-election year. The film covers several protest events and participants, along with footage showing the Bush Administration’s false justifications for waging war. Prominent anti-war leaders appear, such as Cindy Sheehan, Reverend Lennox Yearwood Jr. and Larry Everest. The film also includes interviews with Iraq war Veterans, new Army enlistees, military recruiters, Congressman Danny Davis, reporters who have covered the war and Iraqi civilians. The 80 minute documentary was filmed in four states over a period of six months, and was edited from more than 20 hours of footage.

About Matt:
Matt is a junior at OPRF High School and intends to attend film school. Matt envisioned the film and what it could look like in his mind before even beginning filming. Matt’s desire was to create a film that combined his distaste for the ongoing wars with his desire to shoot and edit a film that would not only deliver an extremely important message, but would also hone his filmmaking skills. Matt has been an active and invaluable member of the Oak Park chapter of World Can’t Wait for more than a year.
